Away from Home
Care Options
Designating an accommodation home fully utilising the UKERU Systems model ensures end-to-end compatibility, fostering a trauma-informed, restraint-free environment. It enhances consistency, safety, and communication across all supports, promotes emotional regulation, reduces behavioural incidents, and empowers staff and residents through predictable, compassionate practices tailored to individuals with complex or high-support needs
Grafton Services have identified two models to incorporate restraint free, trauma informed supports
Privately Funded Accommodation
Alignment
Independently funded accommodation offers a secure, whole-of-life housing solution that preserves family dynamics and ensures stability for individuals with disability. It provides peace of mind for ageing carers, enabling continuity of care, familiar routines, and long-term planning. This model supports autonomy while maintaining close family involvement and a trusted support network
Existing Residential Care Providers
Alignment
Partnering with an existing approved provider using UKERU in a designated location ensures immediate access to trauma-informed, restraint-free care. This collaboration leverages proven systems, skilled staff, and established infrastructure, enhancing safety, consistency, and wellbeing for residents while streamlining setup and maintaining high-quality standards aligned with best practice disability support

Cluster Housing Developments
A cluster of 5–6 independent 1 and 2 bedroom units with landscaped grounds and an onsite carer offers a balanced blend of autonomy and support. Residents benefit from privacy and independence while having immediate access to assistance when needed.
The shared outdoor space fosters social connection and wellbeing. An onsite community or professional visitors centre enables therapeutic, allied health, and recreational programs, reducing isolation and supporting whole-of-life needs.
This model suits people with disability who have aging carers seeking a safe, inclusive environment. It enhances community integration while maintaining personal dignity, security, and tailored, person-centred care in fit for purpose accommodation
